HUSL Age Groups

Over the years, HUSL has had different age groupings. Below are the age groupings (with date-of-birth cutoffs in parentheses) that will be used for the Fall 2025 season, and that we intend to use going forward in future seasons:

4/5 (DOB: 9-1-21 to 8-31-19)
6/7 (DOB: 9-1-19 to 8-31-17)
8/9 (DOB: 9-1-17 to 8-31-15)
10/11 (DOB: 9-1-15 to 8-31-13)
12/13 (DOB: 9-1-13 to 8-31-11)

September 1st Cutoff
We also intend to keep September 1st as the permanent cutoff date between age groups. An advantage of this is that it matches the Hughson schools grade level cutoff, so that in most cases, kids in the same grades play in the same age groups. 

Players playing up or down
In some cases, in order to fill teams in a particular age group, we may reach out to the very oldest/youngest players in an age group--well before the season starts--to see if they have interest in moving their player up/down an age group. But the ultimate decision to move a player in these situations will be entirely at the discretion of the player's family.

Coed vs. Split Divisions
HUSL prefers to have separate boys and girls divisions in all age groups, whenever there are enough players signed up to make at least 4 teams per division. However, in some cases, we will need to make a division coed in order to have enough teams. In past years, coed divisions have usually been limited to the oldest age level, but it is possible at younger age levels as well. We will post this information on our website and social media as soon as we have made those determinations, sometime in the summer.
